The event, “Hey, You Can Vote Too!”, will take place on 17 September at 6 PM at Pauza Palmovka in Prague 8. The evening will offer a practical guide to the Czech voting system, introduce the Prague 8 Pirates’ local programme and give international residents an opportunity to talk about what they like about living in Prague 8 and what they would like to see improved.
Citizens of other EU Member States can vote in Czech municipal elections if they are at least 18 years old by the second day of the election, have permanent or registered temporary residence in the municipality and are entered in the supplement to the permanent electoral register. Those who are not already registered must apply by 7 October at 4 p.m.
“Many people from other EU countries live in Prague 8, work here, raise their families here and use the same schools, parks, streets and public services as everyone else. Yet many still do not know that they can vote in local elections. We want to explain how it works and hear directly from them what Prague 8 could do better,” says Martin Štěrba, the Czech Pirate Party’s candidate for mayor of Prague 8.
The Czech municipal elections will be held on 9 and 10 October 2026. Voters in Prague 8 will elect both the Prague 8 Municipal District Council and the Prague City Assembly.
